Sculpture House Almaloy Armature Wire 1/16"
Our 907A aluminum wrapping and armature wire, the smallest gauge wire we offer, is mainly used for the skeletal aspects of a smaller model and wrapping the larger, thicker appendages of a larger model to assist the clay in adhering to the larger armature. Lightweight, yet strong, this wire is non-corrosive, completely pliable and non-staining.
Approximate measurements: 16 gauge (SWG); 1/16" in diameter; 32 feet long.
As an addition, you may want to consider our hand-made armatures for the head, head-bust and/or figure.
If using moist (ceramic/pottery) clay, please note, the armature wire cannot be put in a kiln during firing. The clay will shrink but the wire will not, resulting in cracking and/or breakage. We suggest using a wet and twisted newspaper armature as the paper will burn off during firing; or a wax armature as the wax will melt during firing.
